It’s the latest project from the two-man Hipster Whale team previously responsible for the hugely popular Crossy Road, which made $10M in 90 days when it released last November. Pac-Man 256 is based on the infamous game-breaking map 256 glitch in the original Pac-Man arcade machines.
The title was previously announced for PlayStation 3, but the Japanese game publisher added the PlayStation 4 and PC to increase the reach of one of its most popular franchises, which will be 20 years old this year.
The studio has stumbled with release dates for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC racer over the past year, most recently moving out of November to avoid being lost in the shuffle and then missing an early 2015 launch due to leave time for polishing.
