We might have seen this coming clearer than a Mustang roaring down a stretch of empty highway — the Wii U version of Project Cars is officially no more.
Slightly Mad Studios confirmed the news to Nintendo Life, while clarifying that the a Wii U port was never a sure thing. In the end, the Wii U’s underpowered hardware simply couldn’t support the game. The Wii U doesn’t get many third-party releases these days, and even Nintendo is already planning a successor for the struggling system.
Slightly Mad Studios says that it may make a version for Nintendo’s next console, the NX. We don’t really know anything about that system, so a Project Cars port depends on the console’s specs.
Project Cars came out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in May.
