The Sandbox adds Robert Kirkman’s Invincible superheroes

Pixowl has teamed up with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman to incorporate his Invincible series superheroes into The Sandbox.

The new version of The Sandbox, a pixellated free-form creativity app on iOS, is available today. It has characters from the world of Invincible, the comic book series created by Kirkman, Corey Walker, and Ryan Ottley. The move is yet another attempt to bring a popular brand into a mobile game in order to help it stand out from the pack of a million other apps on the App Store. With well-known characters, even pixellated ones, Pixowl hopes to draw more attention for The Sandbox.

So far, the world-crafting game has been downloaded more than 14 million times on Android and iOS. More than 1.5 million worlds have been shared in the online gallery.

Pixowl is based in Paris and San Francisco, and it has a big development team in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pixowl is also working on a game based on the Garfield cartoon character.
