FromSoftware’s action game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is getting its own anime adaptation, as revealed at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The anime, called Sekiro: No Defeat, follows the game’s story of Wolf and the Divine Heir, featuring its signature intense combat, judging from the trailer. Kadokawa, Qzil.la and ARCH are producing the adaption, which will stream on Crunchyroll in 2026.

Kenichi Kutsuna is directing the adaptation, with Takuya Satou writing. Crunchyroll also revealed the first cast members on the show, and the three main characters — Wolf, Kuro and Genichiro Ashina — are played by the same Japanese voice actors from the game (Daisuke Namikawa, Miyuki Satou and Kenjiro Tsuda, respectively).

Kutsuna said in a statement: “We are taking on the monumental task of animating the breathtakingly beautiful Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In doing so, we are pouring every ounce of our artistic vision and passion for beauty into its production. The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time. Please look forward to it.”

Sekiro is not the only FromSoft property coming to other forms of media, as a live-action adaptation of Elden Ring is currently in the works at A24. At present, we know that Alex Garland will direct, but no release window has yet been revealed.
