Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey sells 2 million in first 3 days; Super Mario Run hits 200 million

Nintendo’s big move into mobile games is paying off. Super Mario Run has hit 200 million downloads, according to a presentation by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima. And Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 2 million units in its first three days.

Smartphone revenue was $157 million, up 426 percent from a year ago thanks to the launch of Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile devices. Nintendo is poised to move further into mobile games with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which debuted in Australia on October 25 and will go worldwide soon.
