Noggin, the 26-year-old children’s media brand originally founded as a joint venture between Paramount and Sesame Workshop, is charting a new course for how kids interact with technology.
Today, Noggin announced its acquisition of Hello Wonder, an AI startup focused on creating safe, educational digital experiences for kids, which marks a major step in Noggin’s transformation into an AI-powered learning platform designed for Gen Alpha.
The acquisition pairs Noggin’s established legacy in educational media with Hello Wonder’s proprietary AI-driven navigation and curation system. The integration aims to transform passive screen time into active discovery, guiding kids to explore what interests them and pursue those passions both online and in real life.
“AI gives us the opportunity to shift kids from passive consumption to purposeful engagement,” Kristen Kane, chief executive officer of Noggin, said to GamesBeat in a written Q&A interview. “We want kids to leave their screen time not just entertained, but curious, capable, and confident to try something in real life.”
Building a safe ecosystem for Gen Alpha
Kane is a veteran in the education and technology fields who previously led initiatives at Amplify, Sparkler, and the NYC Department of Education. She views the acquisition as a critical step in shaping a responsible AI ecosystem for children. Under her leadership, Noggin is evolving from a streaming platform into a hybrid space that blends entertainment, education, and technology.
Hello Wonder’s platform provides kid-safe browsing with built-in limits, age-appropriate personalization, and clear communication tools for both children and parents. These features give parents the ability to manage what their children see and set learning goals without constant supervision, which is a vital step in the ongoing conversation around AI transparency and child safety.
“Safety, developmental appropriateness, and transparency have always been, and remain, non-negotiables for our work at Noggin,” Kane said. “That’s a big reason why we acquired Hello Wonder, a company whose core mission is to make the internet safer and more meaningful for kids.”
Noggin’s relaunch centers on a vision Kane describes as “purposeful engagement.” The new platform will use AI to personalize each child’s experience through adaptive learning paths, interest-based content, and gameplay that evolves with user behavior.
A child interested in music, for instance, might be guided to rhythm games, behind-the-scenes creator videos, or virtual clubs where they can collaborate with friends on songwriting projects. Kane emphasizes that Noggin’s goal isn’t to replace human creativity with algorithms, but to scaffold curiosity through meaningful, cross-format learning.

Noggin’s strategy reflects a broader trend across family entertainment: the rise of AI-enhanced “co-play” experiences, where machine learning supports creativity and self-expression instead of passive viewing.
“Kids face an overwhelming supply of digital content, much of which is of questionable quality,” Sean Farrell, Noggin’s chief experience officer, said in a prepared statement. “This results in a lot of passive consumption without direction. Kids deserve a more curated experience, combined with the ability to go deep into areas they are passionate about. Noggin’s experience is designed to spark curiosity and drive action, and Hello Wonder’s capabilities will help us do that at scale.”
With this acquisition, Noggin positions itself as both a media brand and a technology innovator, combining AI’s scalability with the trust it’s built over decades. The company’s upcoming launch of Noggin Clubs — real-world experiences where kids can join interest-based groups in subjects like science, art, and music — extends that mission from the screen into daily life.
The end goal, however, is not just to become like PBS meets Roblox.
“What we’re building with Noggin is really its own category: a platform where kids can explore their interests across digital and real life,” Kane said. “Through immersive gaming, curated streaming, and in-person experiences, Noggin powers kid pursuits across the humanities and sciences. Noggin’s media platform helps kids discover what they love, and soon Noggin’s clubs will help kids pursue their passions in real life.”
