The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) announced today that Shinji Mikami, globally acclaimed game creator, will be honored with the Hall of Fame Award at the next Dice Awards.
The 30th Annual Dice Awards ceremony will take place on February 18, 2027.
Goichi Suda (SUDA51), the CEO and lead game designer of Grasshopper Manufacture,
will present this prestigious award to his close friend and creative collaborator.
“It was from Mikami-san that I learned how to approach game development, both as a director
and as a designer. Of all the many Padawans Mikami-san has mentored, I’m truly honoured that I was chosen to be his presenter for this induction into a kind of video game hall-of-fame,” said Goichi Suda, in a statement. “As one such Padawan, please allow me to celebrate my Obi-Wan Kenobi, Shinji Mikami, through this honorable award. I’m sure Mikami-san’s innumerable fans and industry comrades are just as delighted as I am to see him receive such an amazing award.”

We are honored to be able to celebrate Mikami-san’s achievements and induct him into our Hall of Fame during our 30th anniversary of the D.I.C.E. Awards.”
Shinji Mikami continues to have an illustrious career spanning over 30 years, creating worldwide hits that have continually defined and elevated the modern action gaming genre, including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Throughout his work, Mikami-san has showcased a dedication to original gaming experiences and creative freedom across the studios he has led. He is also passionate about nurturing creative environments where the next generation of game developers can thrive. Mikami-san now leads Unbound Inc. as creative director and CEO, infusing the entire studio with his creative vision.
The AIAS Hall of Fame honor is bestowed on game creators who have been instrumental in the development of highly influential games and in advancing entire genres. These individuals
demonstrate the highest level of creativity, leadership, and innovation, shaping experiences that expand the possibilities of the medium.
Past AIAS Hall of Fame recipients include Evan Wells (2026), Ted Price (2025), Koji Kondo (2024), Tim Schafer (2022), Ed Boon (2021), Connie Booth (2020), Bonnie Ross (2019), and Todd Howard (2017).
