In its most recent financial report, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that Rockstar Games has delayed its upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI. Instead of launching on May 26, 2026, it’s now launching on November 19 that same year.
Take-Two says in its report that this is to give the developers “some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve. Rockstar has our full support of course, and we are confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.”
Grand Theft Auto VI has already faced one delay, as it was originally projected to launch sometime this fall. At the time, Rockstar said this is to make sure the game met players’ high expectations, and added that it would be dropping more information about the game shortly after — which it did, in the form of a trailer.
Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the juggernauts of the games industry, predicted to be such a mammoth release that games have been delayed specifically to not launch within the same window. Now the first three quarters of 2026 are open, fair game for any developers who wish to fill the vacuum left by Rockstar’s behemoth. At present, there are few other games who have listed launch dates in the May 2026 window — one might suppose that will change shortly.
