Annapurna Interactive today dropped a new trailer and, at long last, a release date for single-player adventure game Forever Ago. It’s the debut title of indie studio Third Shift, and it launches this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Forever Ago stars Alfred, an older gentleman recovering from a tragedy, on a “journey north in search of redemption.” He’ll meet a variety of characters on the way, learning about their lives through context clues and solving puzzles with his instant camera. There’s also a dog, as the Steam page notes, “You can pet the dog.”

Forever Ago has, appropriately, been in development for quite some time. Third Shift first began dropping screenshots for its then-unnamed game in 2020. At the time, they referred to it as a “pensioner goes for a walk” game. However, there’s been little enough information about the game since then. Annapurna’s new trailer is a bit of a “re-reveal.”

According to Annapurna, the game also features a soundtrack from Clark Aboud, best known for his work on Slay the Spire. Third Shift describes the whole game as “an emotional exploration of love, loss, and redemption.”
