Owlchemy Labs, the VR studio behind titles Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator, has revealed Single Player Mode for its cooperative VR game Dimensional Double Shift (DDS). Coming in the first half of 2027, the premium feature lets solo players have the full DDS experience with a crew of T.E.M.P. co-workers when friends aren’t around. DDS is also coming to Steam Frame, joining Meta Quest and Galaxy XR as another place to clock in. Additionally, controller support for DDS is now available on Meta Quest and Galaxy XR devices.
T.E.M.P.s, or Totally Expendable Multi-dimensional Personnel, are non-playable robotic coworkers that can fetch supplies, pass ingredients, help with jobs, and keep the Gas N’ Grill moving while players tackle each shift at their own pace. The mode uses non-generative AI to help T.E.M.P.s understand player requests, while all dialogue is written and created by Owlchemy’s team. Players can speak to their crew naturally and ask for what they need, letting solo players experience everything DDS has to offer even when friends are offline, or they don’t feel like jumping into a public lobby.
“If someone wants to play Dimensional Double Shift, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to jump in,” said Andrew Eiche, CEO at Owlchemy Labs, in a press release. “That might mean playing solo because your friends aren’t around, using a controller, or picking up the game on a new platform like Steam Frame. We want people to be able to get into DDS in whatever way works best for them.”
Single Player Mode builds on the momentum of DDS, which surpassed one million downloads just over a year after its open beta launch. Players have logged more than 2.5 million hours, worked 6.1 million shifts, and completed more than 20 million tasks across the omniverse.
