Analogue has revealed a new line of Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Editions in historically inspired colorways based on unreleased Nintendo 64 console prototypes from the late 1990s.
The company says the designs replicate five original prototype colors that were officially manufactured by Nintendo but never released publicly. You’ll probably recognize some of them since Nintendo did release controllers based on some of these colors, such as the iconic Atomic Purple.
The limited-edition consoles will be available for purchase beginning February 9 at 8 a.m. PST, with units shipping within 24–48 hours. Each Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Edition console is priced at $299.99 and will be produced in highly limited quantities.
The five color variants include Extreme Green, Atomic Purple, Ocean, Ghost, and Glacier, each painstakingly color-matched to original prototype shells that never made it to retail. Analogue says it spent more than a year perfecting the finishes to ensure they are identical to the original unreleased versions.
In addition to the console lineup, Analogue is also offering matching 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller Prototype Limited Editions, sold separately for $44.99 each. These controllers will go on sale at the same time as the consoles but are expected to ship later, beginning in April, and will also be available in highly limited quantities.

The Analogue 3D is designed to play original Nintendo 64 cartridges on modern displays at up to 4K resolution, effectively bringing classic games to today’s TVs without the quirks and signal issues of the original hardware, and without the hassle of manual upscaling or software emulation.
I was a big fan of the Analogue 3D in my review from last year. I tested each of my original Nintendo 64 game cartridges I have in my collection (that’s over 40 games), and they all worked flawlessly. The built-in overclocking features mean that games run beautifully—even the ones that used to have slowdown issues. The new 8BitDo controllers are fantastic as well and I can’t really imagine myself going back to the original game pads.
The Analogue 3D’s hardware implementation is built around FPGA technology that closely replicates original circuitry and results in gameplay that feels true to the source material, but more reliable and visually polished than most unofficial solutions. The 4K output doesn’t magically add new detail, but it scales classic titles seamlessly for large screens and, when paired with the console’s advanced display modes, evokes the feel of classic CRT visuals with modern clarity.
These new Prototype Limited Editions give enthusiasts a fresh reason to get excited about their old games once again. More information about the Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Editions and the matching 8BitDo controllers can be found on Analogue’s official website.
