Roblox plans to allow creators on its platform to earn directly in their local currency — and to spend directly out of their Roblox earnings using physical cards.
Roblox senior director of product Sophia Randhawa announced the new feature, named Roblox Wallet, during the keynote presentation for Roblox Developers Conference in San Jose, California, today, Sept. 11. Roblox’s Wallet tool allows creators to earn directly in local currency, get paid automatically every day, and easily move funds to other Roblox accounts or external bank accounts. It will also give creators access to more in-depth analytics and transaction details, helping them better understand how their money is moving around the platform, according to Roblox chief business officer Enrico D’Angelo in a briefing with members of the press ahead of Roblox Developers Conference 2026.
Roblox Wallets will become available to users on the platform beginning in December 2026, per D’Angelo. Eligible creators in the United States will be the first to get invitations to open a wallet in Roblox’s creator hub, and Roblox plans to expand Wallet support to groups, LLCs, creators under the age of 18, and other countries over the ensuing year. Users will also be able to purchase Robux at a discounted rate directly through their Wallets.
“Wallet is the foundation to help creators grow from small businesses run by individuals into thriving big companies, and over time, we will add more and more business tools, from incorporation to tax and payroll,” D’Angelo said, adding that the Wallet tool will eventually allow creators to directly reinvest funds to boost their games’ user acquisition and retention.
Roblox is already building towards what D’Angelo described as the “next step” of its payment ecosystem’s development: the Roblox Card. Beginning in 2027, Roblox creators will be able to acquire physical cards connected to their Roblox wallet, allowing them to spend from their available balance directly in the real world at any business that accepts a major credit card network.
“It will give creators another way to put their earnings to work,” D’Angelo said.

Although Roblox will be issuing cards and allowing players to spend directly out of funds stored by the company, D’Angelo made it clear that the announcement of the Roblox Wallet does not mean Roblox is becoming a bank, noting in response to a follow-up question from GamesBeat that the company was partnering with the financial technology company Airwallex to administer Roblox Wallets and Cards in the U.S.
“The wallet is a financial account, is not a bank account, and is backed by a financial provider who is a licensed money transmitter,” he said.
Roblox has allowed creators to exchange their in-game currency for real cash since 2013, when the platform launched the first iteration of its Developer Exchange feature. Since then, Roblox has paid out over $5 billion to its creator community through DevEx, and roughly $1.7 billion in the past 12 months, according to D’Angelo. The announcement of Roblox Wallets and Roblox Cards represents the latest evolution of the platform’s creator economy as it continues to scale.
“What started with individual publishing experiences has grown into real businesses with large teams, expenses, and global tax and payroll needs,” D’Angelo said. “Things have changed quite a bit, so creators have grown. Their financial needs have grown with them, and so we’re now transforming how creators earn again.”
