With the news that our intrepid leader, GamesBeat editor-in-chief Dan “Shoe” Hsu, is leaving, it’s time to think about what’s next.
And what’s next could be you … as our new senior editor.
GamesBeat is looking for an experienced editor to help cover the video game industry. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. We want someone who’s a great writer, has a raft of contacts with developers and publishers, enjoys helping craft what we cover and mentoring less-experienced writers, and has their eyes on where gaming is going — not just now but in the future.
You would work with me (in case you didn’t read the byline, I’m GamesBeat managing editor Jason Wilson) and lead writer Dean Takahashi on planning, coverage, and our event, the GamesBeat conference. You will also work with our staff writers, Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti, and help shepherd our stable of freelancers. And you will help with one of our most exciting (and in my view, rewarding) projects — the relaunch of the GamesBeat community.
And this is where the community manager comes in. GamesBeat seeks someone to shepherd our readers, a group whose passion for games has led them here to write about what they love (and make a little money while doing so). The right person would send out writing prompts, run contests, and help promote the best of what our community has to offer.
If you’re interested in joining the GamesBeat team, please contact me at jason.wilson@venturebeat.com.
We look forward to talking with you, and thank you for your interest.
