Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse is poised to expand with Nitrate Games’ Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture.

Nitrate Games announced that it was developing a farming simulator inspired by the popular stoner characters portrayed in films by Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes in July. During a panel session at New York Comic Con later today, October 8, the company plans to share more information about the upcoming title, including gameplay details, a trailer, and new character announcements. Notably, the new characters will come from a range of films from the View Askewniverse, Kevin Smith’s interconnected universe of films, comics, and other media, including “Mallrats,” “Dogma,” “Chasing Amy,” and “Clerks.”

Nitrate Games co-founder Montana Sommese framed today’s announcements as part of his company’s broader vision to expand Kevin Smith’s creative universe through gaming. He said the game had created opportunities to bring back deep-cut characters and story elements that hadn’t been seen in decades.

“Joint Venture is a Jay and Silent Bob game, but it’s actually a continuation of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse. The central narrative picks up from ‘Dogma,’ making the game a kind of sequel,” Sommese said in an interview with GamesBeat. “Players can befriend and engage with their favorite characters from Kevin Smith’s movies like never before. As we update the game over time, we’re excited to be able to expand Kevin’s story universe with narrative updates that will continue building from his cinematic universe.”

Jay and Bob’s Joint Venture is one of six titles currently in the works at Nitrate Games, and the only publicly-announced project in the company’s current portfolio, although Nitrate has also announced its plans to adapt the 1978 film “Attack of Killer Tomatoes.” Nitrate Games co-founder Daniel Kendrick said the company was taking a long view of the opportunity in indie game development, viewing the current state of the industry as similar to the early days of comic-book adaptations.

“From the time Hugh Jackman showed up as Wolverine, comics have been seen as the font of pop culture. But now, we are seeing a shift, and a new pop culture source forming from indie video games,” Kendrick said in an interview with GamesBeat. “I want Nitrate Games to be a part of that wave over the next 20 years. We bring comic book sensibilities and strategies to indie games. In the same way that Dark Horse and Image Comics and IDW had this wave of new indie comics with compelling voices, we want to do that for indie games.”

The upcoming release of Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture follows the 2026 release of Interabang Entertainment’s beat ‘em up game Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, which came out in April 2026 after a successful crowdfunding campaign that wrapped up in 2016.

Moving forward, Kendrick said Nitrate games is currently working with prominent film and TV brands from the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, as well as a slate of original titles creatively backed by Hollywood talent.

“We’re working with a lot of film directors and screenwriters and showrunners on the concepts and art, and then game devs to get really compelling mechanics and design,” he said.
