4A Games showed off a new trailer for its upcoming game, Metro 2039, at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, which reveals more about the increasingly more depressing world of the Metro, as well as the protagonist, the mysterious Stranger.

The story trailer reveals more about the strange powers that the Stranger has, and how he will be able to use them to dismantle the Novoreich, the new oppressive regime created by former Spartan Hunter. 4A also revealed that the Collector’s Edition of the game comes with a Spartan helmet, which would also be available to view on the Gamescom show floor.

Metro 2039 has a newly-announced release window of February 2027 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
