Wizards of the Coast, developer of games like Magic: The Gathering, has teamed with online marketplace TCGplayer, have teamed up to make TCGplayer the preferred online marketplace for the Wizards Play Network (WPN).
Building on the introduction of WPN badges for eligible TCGplayer storefronts earlier this year, Wizards of the Coast will now offer exclusive content—including previews, interviews with game designers, and exclusive reveals—for TCGplayer’s community of players, collectors, enthusiasts, small businesses and local game stores, supporting the growth and engagement of the Magic: The Gathering community.
Taken together, fans will find exclusive content on TCGplayer and be able to use that knowledge to order safely and securely from WPN stores that support local communities and players.
The purpose of the WPN program is to foster community, helping local game stores create spaces where players can connect over their shared love of games, with Magic: The Gathering at the heart of that experience. Now, on TCGplayer, shoppers can filter search results to discover Magic: The Gathering products exclusively from WPN-verified stores, giving sellers greater visibility and supporting players’ confidence that they’re buying from recognized community leaders.
“TCGplayer is focused on innovating for our community, enhancing buyer and seller experiences, and offering the best selection across trading card games,” said Stephanie Mims, senior vice president for seller experience at TCGplayer. “Being designated the preferred online marketplace for the WPN represents a milestone in our quest to be the most trusted trading card platform for Magic players and retailers.”
“Our investment in local game stores and the Wizards Play Network is at the core of this initiative,” said Brian Trunk, vice president of Wizards Commercial, Hobby and WPN at Wizards of the Coast, in a statement. “By teaming up with TCGplayer, we’re not only giving players greater confidence in their purchases, but also empowering WPN retailers to thrive, reach new audiences, and continue building strong Magic communities.”
An eBay company, TCGplayer wants to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform—connecting and empowering the hobby community. Wizards of the Coast, a division of Hasbro, owns brands such as Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.
