Mafia: The Old Country revealed at Gamescom 2024

The final game revealed at Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live event is the latest game in the Mafia franchise, called Mafia: The Old Country. According to Nick Baynes, the president of developer Hangar 13, they’ll reveal more about the game in December — possibly at The Game Awards.

The trailer shows a beautiful Italian town and several weapons familiar to fans of the Mafia series sitting on a table. A voice says, “This thing of ours, it’s a brotherhood. Treachery and deceit do not exist among us. Do you wish to commit yourself, your life, to this family?” According to Baynes, the game is set in 1900s Sicily and explores the origins of the Italian mafia.

Previous games in the Mafia series have all been set in America, in the fictional cities of Lost Heaven, Empire Bay and New Bordeaux, while exploring the various player characters’ encounters with the Mafia. Hangar 13 confirmed it was making a fourth Mafia game in 2022.
