Xbox announced that Gaming Copilot (beta) is available on Game Bar for Windows PC for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview.
Gaming Copilot is a sidekick designed to help players get past obstacles so they can spend more time playing games. It’s an example of AI for games in action, and it’s obviously a big priority at Microsoft, which generates huge revenues for AI in its non-games divisions.
Microsoft recently brought an early test of Gaming Copilot to the beta version of the Xbox mobile app, where you can access Copilot on a second screen without distracting you from your core gameplay experience.
This companion makes gaming with Xbox more seamless and personalized, helping you get to gameplay faster, sharpening your skills, and being there when you need it and out of the way when you don’t, the company said.

Now, the experience is directly embedded into the PC gaming environment and accompanied by new and exciting features. In addition to answering questions about current gameplay, account history, achievements, and games of interest, Xbox encourages players to try out:
- Using Voice Mode while actively playing
- Pin the Gaming Copilot widget and use Copilot in Voice Mode while you’re actively playing any game on PC. This lets you talk to Copilot and get help if you’re stuck or need tips, without breaking away from gameplay. To do this, navigate to the Gaming Copilot widget, select the “Microphone” from the left navigation bar, begin a conversation, pin the widget, and continue the conversation seamlessly and at any time while you return to your gameplay.
- Improved understanding and responses from Copilot
- When you ask Gaming Copilot in Game Bar a question in Voice Mode, it can now use screenshots of your gameplay to provide you with more helpful responses. Now that Gaming Copilot has a better understanding of what’s happening on your screen during active gameplay and through your screenshots, you can refer to things happening in-game as they occur in Voice Mode, without needing to describe them in detail, and get even more relevant and timely support. You can manage your screenshot settings anytime under “Capture Settings” directly in the Gaming Copilot widget.
While Gaming Copilot is available to try on Windows handhelds, further optimization is underway in preparation for the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X launches.
While Gaming Copilot (Beta) is also available now for Xbox Insiders to try on Windows handhelds with limited functionality, further optimizations are underway for handhelds as the company nears the approach the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.
Xbox is working hard to enhance Gaming Copilot’s capabilities and extend its availability to more devices over time, incorporating increased functionality and features. With today’s rollout of Gaming Copilot to Game Bar, players will benefit from an even more integrated experience, with Copilot directly embedded into the PC gaming environment and accompanied by new and exciting features.
