Warhorse Studios announces Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Warhorse Studios officially revealed its new game in a YouTube video: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the sequel to its 2018 RPG. The new game takes place directly after the first one, following the continued adventures of Henry of Skalitz. The developer said on the game’s website that it will feature up to five hours of cinematics and a return to the open world of 15th-century Europe. It’s set to launch sometime later this year on PlayStation, Xbox and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The trailer depicts the further adventures of Henry, still out to avenge the deaths of his family. He and his bestie Sir Hans Capon embark on a diplomatic mission together which goes sideways, after which they go on an adventure. According to creative director Hans Vávra, the new open world, set in the city of Kuttenberg, is at least twice the size of the last one, offering much more for the player to discover.

As with the original game, the combat is designed to be complex and at least somewhat historically accurate. Players can customize Henry’s abilities to give him particular skills in armed duels. He’s also got access to new weapons — including very early firearms, as the developers showed off in the gameplay presentation.

Vavra said during the presentation that the sequel is the game that Warhorse had intended to make all along, but couldn’t with the limited resources at the time. “What we are making now is what it was supposed to be in the beginning, but we were not able to do it because we didn’t have enough resources and experience and all that stuff. We’ve proven that the concept works and now we can take it to another level.”
