The walk from Orgrimmar to even the next town down the street can be a pain in the ass if you don’t have a mount or a swiftness potion. But is it so bad you would sue the developer for undue stress? A “gamer” from California named Erik Estavillo seems to think so. After suing Sony for banning him from a game of Resistance: Fall of Man and suing Microsoft and Nintendo for similarly stupid reasons, Estavillo has now turned his sights to Activision Blizzard [via Gamespot].
He is upset at the $14.99 subscription fee because it’s the highest monthly fee out there, he’s upset that when you die you have to walk too far to ressurrect, and he says playing the game can separate poeple from real life and affect mental health. That’s not all — he’s also asking the lead singer of Depeche Mode to back him up “since he himself has been known to be sad, lonely, and alienated, as can be seen in the songs he writes.” Actress Winona Ryder would be a second witness because she likes the book Catcher in the Rye — this would allow her to understand how alienation in the book can tie to the withdrawal from reality in video games such as World of Warcraft.
If you can try to get free money from a game company for a monthly fee they don’t force you to pay and parts of the game that annoy you, maybe you could sue Mr. T for giving you a bad virtual haircut.
