Krafton announced today that its cozy survival life sim, Dinkum, is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 6. Inspired in part by the Australian Outback, Dinkum features an amalgamation of survival/crafting gameplay with life sim building mechanics. A demo launches on Switch today.
As with many life sim games based around carving a settlement out of wilderness, Dinkum has such features as farming, fishing, hunting, animal husbandry and making friends with the local community on the Aussie-inspired island. It features co-op for up to four players, and has been optimized for handheld play on the Switch, according to Krafton.
Dinkum is the work of a solo Australian developer, James Bendon, though the Switch port was created with the help of 5minlab. It originally launched in early access in 2022, with the 1.0 version launching on Steam on April 23 this year. It’s since sold over 1.4 million copies on that platform.
Bendon said of the Switch launch: “As a massive Nintendo fan, having my own game on a Nintendo console has been a lifelong dream for me. I feel that Dinkum is a good fit for Nintendo Switch players, and it’s been the most requested console from players who have been waiting a long time to play Dinkum. I am certain that launching on the Switch will bring a lot of new players to Dinkum.”
