Strange Scaffold announces tomato-free Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking

Strange Scaffold today revealed its next release and first multiplayer game: Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking, which launches on July 29. The indie studio is opening a public playtest for the game on Steam today ahead of the launch so players can help shape its multiplayer features. In addition, it also revealed the next games coming to its library, titles similar in weirdness to its previous releases.

Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking is, as the name suggests, a co-op title in which players are medieval monks attempting to placate massive beasts with tasty food. They must battle monsters to get supplies, navigate a shifting monastery and cook a meal fit for a trebuchet. The game features a soundtrack with medieval chanting, and the game also has shades of historical accuracy with the lack of tomatoes — which Strange Scaffold notes were not grown in Europe in the 16th century (presumably when the game takes place).

In addition to its kaiju title, Strange Scaffold also revealed two more upcoming games, both funded by its longtime partner studio Frosty Pop. These are Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?!, a vehicle action isekai game; and Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator, a stock market sim about alien children. It’s also offering a Steam bundle of its titles for sale, including a discount for Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking.

Xalavier Nelson Jr, founder of Strange Scaffold, said in a statement, “Most studios don’t survive to see their first game launch, let alone their 18th. To thank the players who are why we’re still around today, we’re running a special, limited-time Steam sale, bringing the price of our latest PC projects down to a single low price. Hopefully, it’ll make it that much easier to follow the wild stuff we’re doing over here in the future!”
