Final Fantasy VII Revelation was scheduled to release in Spring of 2027, now at State of Play (September 2026) Square Enix has revealed that the game will release on Thursday, April 8, 2027 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game is the final part of a trilogy that broke down the remake of Final Fantasy VII into three different games. This closing chapter will see Cloud and the gang finally catch up to Sephiroth while also needing to fend of massive monsters known as Weapons who have awakened to defend the planet from Shinra – but post a threat to humanity in doing so.
Final Fantasy Rebirth brough the whole gang together on Cid’s airship, the Highwind, at the end, so Final Fantasy Revelation will be the first game that lets players control the full team (minus Aerith, of course). It’ll also be the first time in the remake trilogy that players will get to pilot the ship, using it to explore the open world.
The State of Play trailer showed off some new gameplay footage of the airship traveling to the new region of Yutai, with the characters accepting some side quests and exploring. With the whole world map available from early in the game, Final Fantasy Revelation looks to be the biggest chapter of the remake series, as well as it’s closing act.
