Space Nation Online’s roadmap spells out 2024 launch for Web3 universe

Space Nation plans to launch its Space Nation Online massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) in 2024, and it has laid out a roadmap to do so.

Los Angeles-based Space Nation is building an AI-powered flagship space opera with a Web3 universe.

The introduction of advanced AI aims to change player engagement by creating personalized narratives for each player, reflecting Space Nation’s commitment to a “fun-first” philosophy.

CEO Jerome Wu said in a statement, “Our newly revealed AI integration redefines how personal narratives unfold within the MMORPG universe. Leveraging the power of AI, we are creating individually tailored stories that adapt in response to each player’s unique journey.”

Space Nation Online’s storytelling engine will employ a custom large language model (LLM), ethically sourced, to enhance the narrative experience. Major plot developments will be crafted by a team of writers, while AI will deepen players’ connections to their in-game crew members. The game introduces a unique crew system where players manage characters, each represented as a non-fungible token (NFT), forming an integral part of the Web3 token economy.

The crew system mechanic allows players to manage and send their crew members on missions, with the AI crafting stories based on their skills, personalities, and mission parameters. Over time, these digital assets, the crew members, evolve, providing a dynamic and personalized gaming journey.

As part of the roadmap, the AI integration will undergo testing on Discord starting in February, with player-interactive AI gameplay expected in the closed beta.

Space Nation maintains its “fun-first” commitment, ensuring universal appeal, and invites enthusiasts to participate in the closed beta at the end of March. The summer soft launch precedes the official global release in fall 2024.

The game’s vision extends beyond gaming, forming the core of a transmedia franchise with animated shorts, spinoff games, and a TV series slated for release.

As 2024 unfolds, bringing exciting developments for Space Nation Online, and the company said it’s crucial to remember that this is only the beginning. The game is at the heart of an innovative vision for transmedia IP, a vision that will gain further momentum with the release of animated shorts, spinoff games, and an epic TV series. The company was founded by Wu, Tony Tang, Marco Weber and Roland Emmerich.
