Sony sells 50M PlayStation 5 consoles

Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida announced that it has sold 50 million PlayStation 5 consoles at its press conference at CES 2024.

He also said that Sony had 123 million monthly active users in December. That means there are a lot of Sony fans still playing games on older Sony machines such as the PlayStation 4 game console.

Yoshida talked about the game sales at Sony’s press event at CES 2024, the big tech trade show in Las Vegas. He also talked up game adaptations into films such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, Twisted Metal and Gran Turismo. More such games are in the works, and Sony’s Afeela electric car being built with Honda will also feature game integrations.
