Rise of the Ronin.

Rise of Ronin has fast combat and movement in Edo, Japan

Sony gave some State of Play airtime to Rise of the Ronin, a samurai action-role-playing game coming to the PlayStation in 2024.

The game will debut on March 22, 2024. It’s the latest title coming from Team Ninja, and it will debut on the PlayStation 5. We knew that already, but the new trailer showed a lot of bloody combat.

In this game, you’ll create a custom character and fight enemies in ancient Japan during the Boshin War, which featured both katanas and firearms.

It is set in Edo in the late 19th century during Bakumatsu, the final years of the Edo period. It depicts the war between Shogun Tokugawa and various rebels after the reopening of Japan.

The city looks pretty good, and the movement is interesting. You can fly a kite, ride a horse, and otherwise traverse through the landscape quickly. You can grapple enemies and pull them to you or jump quickly to the tops of buildings. There are giants to battle and traps to spring using gunpowder barrels and more.
