Resident Evil Survival Unit is a mobile strategy take on survival horror

Aniplex announced today that it is co-developing a new Resident Evil game: A mobile strategy title called Resident Evil Survival Unit. It’s developing this game in partnership with South Korean studio Joycity Corporation, and plans to launch it both on iOS and Android in North America, Europe and Asia.

According to the developers, Survival Unit is a different take on the game’s survival horror-based universe, with a gameplay system designed for mobile devices. It’s developed in partnership with Capcom in order to be consistent with the rest of the series. Aniplex revealed the game officially at Anime Expo.

The images revealed thus far don’t have much detail on the game’s content. Judging by context clues, it likely takes place within Raccoon City. This would give Survival Unit synchronicity with the next mainline Resident Evil title, Requiem, which is due to launch on February 27, 2026.

Shinji Hashimoto, formerly of Square Enix and currently of Aniplex, said in the game’s reveal: “While distinct from Capcom’s traditional Resident Evil series, it delivers a unique experience that stays true to the essence of the franchise.” The studio plans to reveal more about the game during a special reveal event to air on July 10.
