Don’t watch Sony’s big media presentation during the Electronic Entertainment Expo tradeshow in the comfort of your home. You should instead pay $15 for popcorn and watch it at a movie theater.
Sony announced today that it’s working with movie theaters in 40 cities around the country to livestream the PlayStation E3 briefing on June 9 at 5:30 p.m. Pacific time. This event will broadcast the whole event in HD as it happens along with 30 minutes of exclusive video that only people in the theaters will get to see. People who attend may also get a “PlayStation surprise,” according to Sony. While the annual E3 show attracts a lot of attention from gamers, publishers like Sony and Nintendo are both introducing ways to expand that experience to fans around the United States.
