Gamers anxiously waiting for a rerelease of Pikmin 2 can finally rest easy. Publisher Nintendo announced today that Pikmin 2 and Mario Power Tennis are coming to the Wii in the U.S. as part of the Nintendo Selects program that ports popular GameCube titles to the Wii with new control schemes. Both games carry a recommended retail price of $19.99 and are slated to launch June 10.
This comes as a relief to players hoping to find Pikmin 2 for a reasonable price. Looking for a used copy of the game online is something of a hassle as sellers across eBay and Amazon list it anywhere from $40-$200, depending on the disc’s condition. Other auctions offer only the case, booklet, or cover art for nearly $10 apiece.
While Pikmin 2 isn’t as rare as the legendary Sega Saturn game Panzer Dragoon Saga, it is difficult to come by and even harder to find for less than $40 nearly eight years after its release.
Nintendo also revealed a price drop for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Typically, price drops wouldn’t be a big deal, but many of Nintendo’s first-party titles tend to retain their value years after launch. Prices really only fluctuate if the company expressly states that costs are dropping on its end as well. Currently on Amazon, Brawl retails for $49 and Donkey Kong for $47. Nintendo’s new recommended price is now $29.
