Overwolf announced a new milestone: $300 million+ paid to creators this year, pushing total payouts to $800 million and proving it is a platform that can power the creator economy the platform.

Unlike closed ecosystems like Roblox and Fortnite, Overwolf said it allows open creation in triple-A games like Minecraft, The Sims, and Hogwarts: Legacy. Overwolf creators are on track to exceed 32 billion mod downloads this year, a 33% year-over-year increase.

In a time of layoffs, Overwolf said it is showing anyone with an idea for their favorite game can create and earn a livelihood. Some creators are earning tens of thousands per month, and Overwolf has its sights set on $1 billion in annual payouts by 2030.

The panel includes Alex Seropian, CEO of Look North World, and Zachary Letter, founder of Wonder Works Studio.

The milestone underscores Overwolf’s mission to empower modders to make a sustainable living by creating for the games and communities they love.

Overwolf has created a platform for in-game creators. With over 1,500 supported games, 178,000 creators, and 113 million monthly active users, Overwolf enables creators to build, distribute, and monetize in-game apps, mods, and private game servers.

In parallel to closed ecosystems such as Roblox and Fortnite, Overwolf enables creation within existing triple-A games. The company has become the leading horizontal platform layer for the game creator economy, supporting titles across genres, including Minecraft, with 240,000 mods and 93 billion downloads, and The Sims 4, with 100,000 mods and 2.8 billion downloads.

The Overwolf ecosystem has continued its rapid expansion, with creators on track to surpass more than 32 billion mod downloads in 2025, a 33% year-over-year increase.

“Game creation is rapidly changing. Gaming’s best ideas no longer come exclusively from triple-A studios,” said Marchand, in a statement. “Overwolf’s mission is to empower anyone who has an idea to make their favorite game better, not only to develop something amazing but also to earn a livelihood from doing so. Our $300 million payout this year is a milestone, but the work isn’t over, as we are on a mission to pay $1 billion in annual creator payouts by 2030.”

Overwolf’s revenue-sharing model ensures creators are directly rewarded for their work. Creators who opt in to display ads receive a share of every ad dollar, while Premium Mod authors earn 50% of all revenue generated.

Sitting between official DLCs and traditional mods, Premium Mods offer players a richer, more curated modding experience. Among the most popular are Hasbro’s Power Rangers cosmetic packs for ARK: Survival Ascended, which have been downloaded over six million times, and Paramount’s recently announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mod that has been downloaded over 100K times in less than one week.

Based in Tel Aviv, Overwolf has raised over $150 million to date from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Griffin Gaming Partners, Insight Partners, and others.
