Overwatch’s new update with Junkertown and the Mercy/D.Va changes is live

Overwatch just received a significant patch. The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC team-based shooter saw two of its heroes receive big changes, while Blizzard also added the new Junkertown map.

Overwatch has been a big hit since launching in May 2016. It has over 30 million players, and constant updates like this keep that large audience engaged.

The patch reworks the healer Mercy, who used to have an ultimate ability that could resurrect all dead teammates in range. Instead, she has a new regular ability that can revive a single ally, while a new ultimate has her flying freely with increased healing, boosting, and attack power for a limited time.

The mech-riding D.Va saw the duration of her Defense Matrix, which could absorb all enemy projectiles, shortened. But she got a new offensive move that shoots out a volley of missiles. So D.Va is going to be less of a defensive tank and a more aggressive character.

Junkertown is an Escort map, meaning that the attacking team needs to stay close to a payload and move it across the map while the defenders try to stop them. It takes place in an Australian town created by scavengers that’s home to Overwatch characters Junkrat and Roadhog.
