Nintendo of America sued the U.S. government over the tariffs that President Donald Trump issued last year.

As Aftermath reported, the complaint was filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade.

Nintendo launched its hot-selling Switch 2 game console in June for $450. It debuted at a time when the tariffs were in full effect. But the U.S. Supreme Court put the brakes on the tariffs on February 20 as it deemed that Trump exceeded his presidential powers in declaring the tariffs without congressional approval.

Those tariffs made hardware like the Switch 2 more expensive, with the amounts of the tariffs depending on where the products were made and when. More than 1,000 other companies have sued the U.S. government.

The lawsuit said Nintendo of America aims to get refunds on the tariffs that were struck down.

A spokesperson for Nintendo said, “We can confirm that we filed a request. We have nothing else to share on this topic.”
