Nintendo hypes Pokémon X and Y with new info, trailer

Pokémon is just mere months away from making its 3DS debut, and Nintendo is revealing more information about the new games to get fans hyped up.

The publisher is revealing five new Pokémon, a couple new characters, and the details for new Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal.

Pokémon X and Y are due out Oct. 12 worldwide. This is the first game in the franchise that will hit all major territories simultaneously.

Check out the new trailer to get a peek at the game in action:

Pokémon X and Y will introduce Fairy-type Pokémon. One of the new Legendary creatures, Xerneas, will fall into this category. Xerneas can learn the Fairy Aura ability that strengthens all Fairy-type moves in a battle. That includes enemy Pokémon.

The other announced Legendary Pokémon, Yveltal, is a Dark- and Flying-type pocket monster. Yveltal can learn Dark Aura, which counters Fairy Aura by raising the strength of all Dark-type moves.

Nintendo also revealed a bit more of the new Pokémon on the roster for X and Y. Pokémon Pancham will evolve into a powerful panda bear-like creature called Pangoro, which uses Fighting-type moves including Hammer Arm. Other new pocket monsters include Inkay (Dark- and Psychic-type), Malamar (Dark and Psychic-type), Swirlix (Fairy-type), and Spritzee (Fairy-type).

Nintendo also revealed some of the Pokémon that are exclusive to either X or Y. Trainers can only capture Water-type Clauncher in Pokémon X, while Poison- and Water-type Pokémon Skrelp is only native to Pokémon Y.
