The Army has America’s Army, and now it’s time for NASA to jump on the simulation bandwagon. Astronaut: Mars, Moon, and Beyond has the player take the role of an astronaut and complete the same missions and objectives that real-life space trekkers perform [Technabob via Edge]:
Jerry Heneghan, founder and CEO of Virtual Heroes (the company behind America’s Army and a partner in this project), says the scenarios that they’re working on include constructing and using robotics, mass accelerators, spacecraft, and surface vehicles. Doesn’t quite sound as exciting as a Zerg invasion, but for budding scientists it could be a fun and educational alternative to killing orcs. We’ve got more pics of the game after the jump.
