Mixm8 developing a virtual world for music lovers

Outso is developing a new virtual world dubbed Mixm8 for music lovers. In the world, you can meet friends, organize and attend music gigs, and create a virtual apartment for sharing your musical passions. You can pick the furniture, art and other decor.

The world will include online shops such as Xpressbeats, Ninja Tune
and War Child as well as independent, alternative artists such as Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Outso will launch a version of the site as a forerunner to the full virtual world. A closed beta of the full site will be launched in the second half of 2009, and the service will target the English-speaking teen market at first

The Nottingham, U.K.-based company has been around since 2005. It faces stiff competition from Habbo, IMVU and Vside.
