Earlier today, GamesBeat reported that people beta testing the new version Xbox Live in the U.K. and India were noticing increased prices for games. Microsoft has informed GamesBeat that this increase was done in error. It is currently working on fixing the issue.

“We are aware that select regions experienced some incorrect game title pricing in the Xbox Live beta,” a Microsoft spokesperson told GamesBeat. “This was an unintended error that we are in the process of fixing. We’ll be reimbursing impacted beta participants for the difference in what was paid and what the price will be after the update is available to all members.”

The error came coupled with Microsoft’s switch from its Points payment system to a process that now uses real currency. The company pointed out that it runs beta tests like this specifically to avoid these kinds of issues.

“Beta programs give us a chance to test, fix, and correct issues like this,” said the spokesperson. “As with all betas, we take the learnings from our program and make corrections and adjustments prior to the update being available to all members. As always, we appreciate the participation of our beta customers in helping us launch and build great products.”
