Mattel today announced that it’s publishing its first in-house mobile game — and it’s based on a meme. The game is Skeletor: Until Next Time, and features the titular villain of Eternia in his own endless runner title. The game launches today on both iOS and Android.

Remember the meme where Skeletor will say something out of pocket and then run offscreen saying, “Until we meet again!” or “Until next time!”? Well apparently the game will depict where he goes after that. In typical endless runner fashion, Skeletor will have to dodge obstacles, outrun pursuers and use both his own abilities and those of his fellow villain to traverse Snake Mountain.

Mattel developed the game in partnership with Amber, a full-service game development company with turnkey creation solutions. Until Next Time features gameplay that will be familiar to most players of Subway Surfers — though in this case the obstacles are not subways, but rather manifestations of the powers of the Eternian heroes. The game is visually inspired by the classic Masters of the Universe cartoon, with the characters resembling their animated counterparts.

The game comes out only a few days before Masters of the Universe, the film adaptation which retells the story of Prince Adam as he is transported back to Eternia and must confront Skeletor (played by Jared Leto) in order to free his home and embrace his destiny. Mattel also plans to launch more games alongside the film’s release, including Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, which launches on June 5; and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, which launches later this year.
