Gazillion launched a Defenders-themed event for its Xbox One and PlayStation 4 action role-playing game Marvel Heroes Omega. It introduces Elektra as its 41st hero, plus it adds cosmetic items for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher.
The Defenders is a Marvel superhero team that recently got its own show on Netflix. It includes notables from other Marvel Netflix superhero dramas, including Daredevil, Iron First, and Luke Cage. This bit of cross-promotion could benefit both the game and the show.
Marvel Heroes Omega is a free-to-play game, so adding new characters and cosmetics is how it can earn money from its players. Marvel Heroes started as troubled PC game in 2013, but Gazillion reworked it into something more popular and profitable before releasing the Omega version for consoles earlier this year. Action RPGs are a rarer sight on consoles compared to PC, but you can find popular examples like Blizzard’s Dialbo III. Path of Exile, another successful PC , is also coming to Xbox One.
Gazillion is also working on an Omega Prestige system. Similar to the Prestige concept in Diablo III, it gives max level characters access to a new progression system, giving them further rewards as the clear out bad guys. Spider-Man will be the first hero to get Omega Prestige.
