Itagaki’s Devil’s Third shooter game to debut on Wii U in Q4

Nintendo announced today that Tomonobu Itagaki’s Devil’s Third shooter game will debut on the Wii U in the Americas in the fourth quarter.

The title from Valhalla Game Studios is being created by famous game developer Itagaki, creator of titles such as the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden while he was at his previous studio.

Nintendo had previously announced late August ship dates for the title in Asia and Europe, but the North American debut had not yet been confirmed. The title is an over-the-top, third-person action shooter that combines modern military weapons with ninja-style swordplay and melee combat.

“Devil’s Third delivers a unique combination of shooting and melee combat to provide Wii U owners with a fresh action-oriented experience,” said Valhalla Game Studios founder Itagaki, in a statement. “We’ve been working hard on the game and can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it later this year.”

Valhalla Game Studios will release its own free-to-play version of the game for the PC, while the Wii U version will be published by Nintendo. The Wii U version will feature a full multiplayer mode as well as a single-player story mode.
