Epic Games today announced the most recent pop culture icons to join Fortnite Battle Royale are HUNTR/X, the protagonists and titular characters from the Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters. Rumi, Zoey and Mira now have skins and cosmetics within Fortnite, and will also be available within Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) for creators to put within their own islands. HUNTR/X launches on Fortnite on October 2.
This marks one of the swiftest crossovers for Fortnite, as the movie launched on Netflix only three months ago. This could be because Sony Pictures Imageworks used Unreal Engine during the film’s layout phase of production. Rei Ami, Zoey’s singing voice, first teased the crossover on TikTok.
The HUNTR/X bundle includes emotes, outfits, accessories and items for Battle Royale and Blitz. Players can complete quests for HUNTR/X in order to earn Rumi’s Sword or Mira’s X-tra Spicy Ramyeon. Rumi, Zoey and Mira are also recruitable in Horde Rush, which features their demonic enemies. Players can also pick up KPop Demon Hunters perks between October 1 and November 2.
In addition to the characters themselves, KPop Demon Hunters-related assets will be available for creators using UEFN starting on October 2. The HUNTR/X cosmetics, demonic enemies and the Hunters’ weaponry are available for creators to use in their existing islands. Those who make new islands will be able to publish them immediately without having to wait for a publishing hold.
