Things have been loud and noisy for Battlefield 6, the new comeback title coming from Electronic Arts. But at this week’s Opening Night Live at the start of Gamescom 2025, Call of Duty got to strike back.
Microsoft’s Activision division showed long trailer and the devs did a long did into their thinking behind the connected development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which debuts on November 14. I liked how the storytelling gets zany in Black Ops, as there is always some kind of hallucinatory element that lets the game designers let loose with crazy imaginative environments for Call of Duty combat.
