Riyadh-based game studio Steer Studios, part of Savvy Games Group, announced plans to develop a new mobile game featuring Tom and Jerry, officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

It’s another sign of Saudi Arabia’s big investment in games. In just a few years, the country has committed to investing $37 billion in games through its Public Investment Fund and spun up Savvy Games Group, which acquired Scopely for $4.9 billion and Niantic for $3.5 billion. Now it is also growing smaller studios to create more jobs in Riyadh, the capital.

This project marks a significant milestone for Steer Studios, who have built a homegrown studio in Riyadh, blending domestic talent and international expertise. Tom and Jerry will be the cornerstone of the second mobile game that the Riyadh-based international studio will bring to global audiences since its inception in 2022.

Yannick Theler, CEO of Steer Studios, said in a statement,”We are honored and delighted to be working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and look forward to delivering a fun, innovative game that lives up to the legendary status of the Tom and Jerry universe.”

Further details on the game will be shared through Steer Studios’ social media channels in due course.
