Warner Bros. Discovery owns 11 video game studios and their iconic gaming properties, alongside a vast portfolio of entertainment brands. By proposing to acquire the firm for $72 billion, Netflix will jumpstart its business in triple-A gaming as well as entertainment.
The studios include London-based Rocksteady Studios, famous for its Batman: Arkham series of triple-A games.
It also includes NetherRealm Studios in Chicago — the creators of the Mortal Kombat franchise as well as the Injustice fighting game. The team is led by Mortal Kombat co-creator and chief creative officer Ed Boon.
Avalanche Software is based in Salt Lake City and it is known as the developer of Hogwarts Legacy, a hugely successful game in the Harry Potter universe.
Warner Bros. also owns TT Games/Traveller’s Tales in Knutsford, United Kingdom. It’s known for the LEGO video games.

Another studio is WB Games Montréal , which developed Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights.
WB Games Boston, formerly known as Turbine, also runs The Lord of the Rings Online game. Warner Bros also has WB Games studios in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and India (Hyderabad).
As far as labels go, Warner Bros. also owns Portkey Games, a label focused on Wizarding World titles like Hogwarts Mystery and Hogwarts Legacy.
Until recently, Warner Bros. also owned Monolith Productions, maker of the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games, but it was shut down in February 2025. WB Games San Diego focuses on mobile and console support titles, but it was also shut in 2025. And Player First, the Multiversus game maker, was also shut after that game failed.
The game franchises at Warner Bros. include Mortal Kombat, Batman: Arkham, Hogwarts Legacy, LEGO, Wizarding World, DC Comics properties and more. On the entertainment side, properties include HBO, New Line Cinema, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, CNN, TNT, TBS, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV, Food Network, Science Channel, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry.
Netflix itself owns Night School Games, Next Games and Boss Fight Entertainment. It recently agreed to sell Spry Fox back to its owners David Edery and Daniel Cook. Netflix also shut down Team Blue recently.
Night School Games created the narrative games Oxenfree and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals. Next Games created Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales and The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land. And Boss Fight Games is a mobile game studio.
