Indie developer Fun Punch Games and publisher Gameforge revealed Shelf Heroes, a fast-paced FPS roguelite where players don’t just find loot—they are the loot.

Players rebuild their toy hero piece by piece each run through modular body parts and powerful perk combinations. The game makes its official debut with a brand-new gameplay reveal trailer, which premiered during Future Games Show: Spring Showcase.

Shelf Heroes is a small-scale roguelite FPS of epic proportions, combining high-skill gunplay, absurd hero customization, and massive toy-sized arenas into a chaotic, nostalgic experience that can be played solo or with friends in 3-player co-op.

At the heart of Shelf Heroes is a wild twist on the FPS roguelite formula: instead of focusing solely on weapons, players physically rebuild their character mid-run. Arms, legs, torsos, and heads can be swapped on the fly, dramatically changing movement, abilities, and combat style — often in gloriously mismatched ways.

Every run becomes a creative experiment, blending visual comedy with deep build-crafting. Lose a leg in the middle of a firefight? Replace it. Mix a robot arm with teddy bear legs? Somehow, it works — and it might just carry the run.

Designed for players mighty enough to master modern FPS roguelites, Shelf Heroes delivers the skill-based gunplay, replayability, and build depth genre fans expect — while standing out through:

  • Hero-focused builds instead of weapon-only progression
  • Massive, open household arenas with verticality, secrets, and multiple paths
  • Fast, precision-driven movement and shooting with a high skill ceiling
  • A nostalgic toy-warfare theme that’s instantly readable and visually memorable
  • 3-player co-op, where wildly different builds collide in pure, enjoyable chaos

The result is a game that feels right at home for FPS roguelite veterans, while offering something genuinely new every time players dive back in.

“Shelf Heroes is the game we always wanted to make as kids, toys on a shelf coming to life and causing absolute mayhem,” said Tiago Franco, art director at Fun Punch Games, in a statement.“We’re a small team from Lisbon, but we’ve poured a lot of heart, humor, and ambition into this project. Seeing it finally revealed on a stage like Future Games Show is incredibly exciting for us.”

“Working with Fun Punch Games on Shelf Heroes has been a fantastic experience,” said Noemi Feller, VP of Products at Gameforge, in a statement.“Their creativity, energy, and clear vision shine through in every part of the game. We’re thrilled to finally reveal what we’ve been working on together and can’t wait to get players hands-on with Shelf Heroes very soon.”

The Shelf Heroes gameplay reveal trailer premiered during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase, offering the first extended look at the game’s chaotic combat, towering household arenas, and wildly customizable toy heroes.
