Gambit launches Kickstarter for co-op video game where tabletop worlds unite

Tabletop worlds will unite in an original co-op strategy video game dubbed Gambit, which has launched a Kickstarter campaign.

The team of veteran game makers plans to create a variety of playstyles and factions in a game that captures the fun of tabletop games in a co-op video game.

“From the aggression of Viking warriors to the thoughtful synergy of sanctuary-building birds, every faction in Gambit is crafted with respect for what made the tabletop version shine,” the team said in a post on the Kickstarter page.

So far, the Kickstarter campaign has been live for a day and the game has raised $4,835 out of the $50,000 it aims to raise.

In this game, the Obsidian King faces challenges to his throne from different factions. Fast, aggressive games become brawling frontline factions. Slower, tactical games become support factions focused on defense, healing, and control. Each Gambit faction reflects the core identity of the board game it came from.

The factions include the Champions of Midgard, or the Viking Faction. With dice-driven combat and a bold Viking theme, this faction was a natural fit. Unit cards double as combat dice when held in hand, giving players ways to contribute even when they’ve hit their deployment limit.

And the Wingspan is the he Bird Faction. This cozy engine-builder translates into a supportive faction where players build nests that emit area buffs and use food resource cards to cycle their hand. Wingspan’s emphasis on synergy becomes a key part of its Gambit identity.

Apiary is a swarm of bees. While the game puts a limit on the number of units each player can deploy at once, Apiary gets around those rules with generous token-summoning effects. Worker bees may not hit for much or last long on the game board, but there are lots of them.

The champions in the Tidal Blades competition are here to fight the good fight, with
sportsmanship at the forefront of their strategy. This faction will admirably face any challenge head-on, but know that their real strength comes from helping their allies endure.

The game is a shared universe of multiple tabletop games from different tabletop game publishers.

Gambit features asymmetrical factions, deckdriven strategy, and tactical hex grid combat, all brought to life with stunning visuals, and fast-paced play.

In Gambit, you and your teammate each take command of a unique faction inspired by your favorite board games like Mystic Vale. You play cards, and send orders to your units. Together, you’ll watch your combined strategy unfold in real time as you fight to defeat others. P

Gambit is a completely new way to financially support your favorite game creators, further explore beloved and new worlds, and grow the tabletop community. Kickstarter backers will be one-time exclusive members of the Gambit Founders Council so the game can benefit from your ongoing input during development and make Gambit a true tribute to everything lovable about tabletop games.

The game is expected to come out on mobile and the PC in 2026.
