LOS ANGELES — EA is entering the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) scene with Dawngate.
Announced at the publisher’s Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing today, Dawngate looks similar to established MOBAs like League of Legends and Dota 2. But EA promises that its game will take place in an epic story. Blizzard also has a MOBA currently in alpha, Heroes of the Storm.

It’s a popular but crowded market, one where games are making hundreds of millions of dollars in microtransactions. We’ll see if EA and Dawngate can make an impact. EA didn’t announce a launch date, although a likely beta period will likely precede an official release.
