During its latest earnings report, Electronic Arts revealed that Hazelight’s newest co-op adventure Split Fiction has sold almost four million copies since it launched in March. The game launched under the EA Originals label, as did Hazelight’s previous title, It Takes Two, which won Game of the Year in 2021. The game’s sales are one of many operating highlights that EA mentioned in its report.
Split Fiction follows the adventures of writers Mio and Zoe, who become virtually trapped in their own and each other’s stories. Josef Fares, Hazelight’s founder, said in an interview with my colleague Dean Takahashi that he was confident in the game’s success: “There’s no doubt that this is a great game. Even if the whole world said this sucks, I’d say, “No, you’re wrong.” That’s how confident I am. It’s a great game.”
