CCP Games reveals EVE Frontier, a blockchain-based survival game

CCP Games today revealed the official name and details about its blockchain project, formerly known as Project Awakening. The new game is called EVE Frontier, and it’s a space survival game set in the EVE Online universe. Frontier is a single-shard MMO, meaning a massive sandbox where the players all exist and survive within a shared space. CCP Games plans to launch a closed playtest sometime in the near future, and players can sign up to participate on the Frontier website.

EVE Frontier is set in the far future, as the player character awakes from stasis to find the ruins of civilization. They must explore and make use of the Frontier’s resources in order to survive by fueling and upgrading their ship while also engaging in combat against rogue AI prowling space. Players can also create their own custom currency and establish markets where they can trade goods, services and reputation.
