Catapult King developer turns to Gamblit Gaming to add a real-money twist to its hit

Mobile gaming is overflowing with apps that want your attention — and sometimes even successful games need help standing out. That has one developer turning to real-money wagering pros for a boost.

Developer Wicked Witch Software, which is responsible for the iOS and Android game Catapult King, is working with Gamblit Gaming on a revamped version of that aging hit. Gamblit is a technology company that provides game makers with a way to introduce real-money gambling into gaming apps, and now it is going to bring those features to Catapult King: Gamblified in the United Kingdom (where gambling on mobile is legal) in 2016. This will give players the chance to bet and win money in the boulder-flinging simulator. And this should give a boost to the revenues of the Catapult King franchise — which has already seen more than 27 million installs since debuting in 2012. While in-game purchases and advertising make up most of the $30 billion mobile gaming business, real-money wagering is growing side of that business with Gamblit competing in the space against companies like Cashplay and Skillz.
