Assassin's Creed Pirates to pillage smartphones, tablets this fall

Publisher Ubisoft today unveiled Assassin’s Creed Pirates, a standalone game for high-end smartphones and tablets that lets you lead the life of an ambitious young captain in search of treasure in the Caribbean without the fear of scurvy or undead CGI monkeys.

The focus of Pirates is on real-time naval battles, although it has some light role-playing elements as well. Players can manage a crew of scurrilous scalawags and upgrade their ship with booty earned through battle or exploration. Ubisoft is also promising dozens of side missions, along with treasure quests, perks, and achievements. Updates are planned for the game post-launch.
